It can’t be, can it?

Alison Jackson’s insightful and witty stage show reveals behind-the-scenes secrets, capturing the moments that the rich and famous (and Boris Johnson) hoped to keep firmly behind closed doors. Fake news or alternative facts? You decide.

Set to the backdrop of her photographs and videos, Jackson tells the story of how she created a hilarious fake reality about the 21st Century obsession with celebrity. She gives the inside track on how she shapes her shoots, crafting celebrity lookalikes to capture the sort of ‘private’ moments that we’ve all imagined, but never seen before.

And she also gives the opportunity for a member of the audience to be transformed into a star. Dead ringer for Meghan Markle? Donald Trump’s doppelgänger? Constantly being mistaken for President Putin? Then come along and get a celebrity makeover live on stage!

This timely and provocative show explores our own relationship with fake news and media’s power in shaping our perceptions.

COVID VARIATIONS

A powerful and entertaining take on the last 18 months, The Covid-19 Variations: A Piano Drama  is a unique and outrageously funny film and concert in one starring everyone from Donald Trump and Elton John to Kanye West and even the Royal Family – because everyone has lived through Covid.

Olivier Award-winning Richard Thomas composed The Covid-19 Variations after having Covid twice. Inspired by his music, BAFTA-winning artist Alison Jackson has created 19 short films for each of the Covid-19 Variations, drawn from her world of fake news, alternative facts, and celebrity lookalikes, and commemorating life in the time of Covid. Featuring a Gershwinesque 23 minute riff, the music is performed live by world-renowned pianist Philip Edward Fisher.

Directed by The REP’s Artistic Director Sean Foley
